Homemade Fruity Muesli

A delicious mix of oats, dried fruit, nuts and seeds with a hint of spice. Easy to make ahead and simple to adapt, it's a great breakfast to have ready through the week and works beautifully topped with fresh fruit and yogurt. This recipe contains only naturally occurring sugars from the dried fruit.

Ingredients

  • 30 g sultanas
  • 30 g raisins
  • 40 g dried apricots, chopped
  • 20 g dried cranberries
  • 30 g dried apple rings, chopped
  • 30 g almonds, roughly chopped
  • 30 g roasted hazelnuts, roughly chopped
  • 1 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
  • 400 g porridge oats
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

SMART notes & tips

  • Use whichever dried fruits, nuts and seeds you have available.
  • Serve the muesli with low-fat dairy yogurt or a plant alternative (but avoid coconut plant varieties as they are exceptionally high in saturated fat), fresh berrries or a sliced banana.
